What you're looking at is the remains of the HMS Mary Rose, Henry the Eighth's favorite ship. She sank in 1545 under disputed circumstances. Half the ship was eaten away by time and the ocean's animals, but it was recovered in the 80s. Over 400 people would have been on this ship - if you look closely at the top, you'll see a lifesize figure of an archer. Would have been a very packed ship. Its so foggy because they're keeping the room at a certain temperature, humidity, etc and spraying a plastic, wax like substance to slowly penetrate the wood and preserve it. They'll finish that phase sometime in 2011, then dry it out for a few years, then people will be able to walk around it.
